Sleeping baby rocks pop culture costumes – and it’s so adorable

New mom Laura Izumikawa definitely does not sleep while the baby sleeps.

We should all be thankful that she’s chosen to ignore that age-old advice, because what she does do while her 4-month-old daughter Joey snoozes is pretty much the cutest thing ever.

The Los Angeles-based photographer has built up a loyal Instagram following of over 300,000 thanks to the super cute cosplay pictures of her napping infant. People flock to her page to see little Joey sound asleep and all dressed up as Slash from Guns N Roses. Or Ariel from The Little Mermaid. Or even Jon Snow from Game of Thrones.

Her pop culture imitations are both ovary-achingly adorable and absolutely hilarious.

I love it. And I have to say, I’m totally impressed.

How on earth does this mom manage to get her sleeping baby into these elaborate costumes when I couldn’t even manage to lower mine into the crib without waking her? (She actually gives a peek at her stealth technique in behind-the-scenes videos she posts to Instagram as well.)

Beyond that, Laura Izumikawa’s use of nap time is completely inspired. Like her, I also didn’t nap while the baby napped. Instead, I did laundry, fretted, washed bottles, worried, wondered when she’d wake up and tip-toed around our basement suite like an awkward ninja.

That time would have been so much better spent dressing my baby up like Beyoncé.

Be sure to follow @lauraiz on Instagram to see what fun baby Joey gets up to next. Also, visit Laura Izumikawa’s photography web site to see her beautiful work.
