I wish I was shouting and cheering because I’m past the diaper-years, but I’m not quite there yet. However, I have three kids and only one in diapers.
I can use a normal bag now, not a clunky diaper bag that I move from shoulder to shoulder, trying to figure out how to carry it while also carrying a baby. No, not for me. I have graduated to the normal people bags.
Difference between when I had my first baby and now with my third:
First baby diaper bag contained: 3 diapers, wipes, diaper cream, muslin blanket, burp cloth, toys, water cup, 2 snacks, change of clothes, jacket, and I’m sure many more other items.
Third baby diaper bag contains: 1 diaper, wipes. THAT’S IT.
It is so freeing to only bring those two items and only need to bring those two items. So what might you find in my bag now as a mom to three kids?
- Diaper, wipes
- Aveeno sunscreen (Amazon, $8.54)
- Bandaids
- Chapstick
- Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Click ‘n Learn Remote (Amazon, $8.99)
- Aaron’s Thinking Putty (Amazon, $3.50/mini tin)
- Masalababy hat (Nordstrom, $41.98/dress and hat set)
- Wallet
- Sunglasses
It all fits in a regular purse and I no longer break my back carrying a million things here and there.
When we went to New York City last month my sister-in-law took my 3-year-old to the American Girl store to pick out her first doll. She left with a giant bag that I imagined having to lug all around the city. I didn’t! My 3-year-old kept my handbag gleefully empty and she dragged that massive store bag everywhere with her. In that moment I really loved my toddler’s independence.
What’s in your post-diaper-years diaper bag?
