Thanks to having started his family decades ago and continuing to grow his brood now, Terrence Howard is in the unique situation of having children younger than his grandchildren.
The 47-year-old actor, who has a total of five children and two grandchildren, recently opened up about the newest addition to his family — a baby boy named Hero Howard that arrived this summer.
“(He’s named) Hero because he’s changed my life. He’s my everything,” the Empire star revealed on Live! With Kelly. Speaking of the newborn, Terrence joked: “He’s my new favorite… You know, we do have favorites as parents… It’s the one who needs us the most who becomes our favorite…”
Terrence and wife Mira, pictured below, are also the parents of a son named Qirin Love, who was born in May 2015.
Qirin and Hero are obviously quite a bit younger than their half-siblings. Terrence Howard’s grown children include daughters Heaven and Aubrey, and a son named Hunter. Thanks to Aubrey, the actor has two grandchildren — and they just so happen to also be older than his kids with Mira.
Sharing that his grandkids have gotten creative about verbiage for the arrangement, Terrence explained, “I’ve got a 4-year-old granddaughter and I’ve got a 2-year-old grandson, and they call Hero and Qirin ‘baby uncles.'”
Pretty cute, right?
Realistically they’ll probably feel like cousins as they grow up, but it is quite something to have such a large age gap between kids. Personally, I can’t imagine being both a grandparent and having two under age 2 of my own to take care of — but if it works for Terrence and Mira then good on them!
