A viral pregnancy reveal video shows just how important it is to follow-up with doctors after a vasectomy.

Tim Brummel, a Georgia dad of three young boys, had a vasectomy about eight months ago. There’s just one teeny, tiny problem: He never received the results from his five-month checkup after the procedure. It turns out there were still plenty of little swimmers in the stream, if you catch my drift.

Earlier this summer, Tim and his wife, Rachel, joked they might be pregnant when she started feeling extra tired/hungry and a little queasy. But there’s no way Rachel could be knocked up because of the vasectomy, right? Wrong. Tim called his doctor and was informed the procedure had failed — only the office had forgotten to inform him of this crucial bit of information.

There was only one way to know for sure. In yet another twist to the story, Tim decided to have his wife take a pregnancy test without her knowing. “I turned off the toilet water in the middle of the night and flushed so there was no water in it,” he said. “And the test came back positive.”

After a secret pregnancy test confirmed the couple was unexpectedly expecting baby number four, Tim was actually the one to surprise his wife with the baby news. The best part about all of this is he documented the experience almost every step of the way — from the backstory, to surprising his wife, to finding out the sex of the baby, to keeping the pregnancy a secret until the video was posted and more. I wonder how their immediate family is taking the news now that this video is taking off? Their story is so compelling and the video is so well-done, that hopefully grandparents, aunts and uncles don’t hold a grudge about how the pregnancy reveal went down.

When I was pregnant with our third child, my husband was pretty set on getting a vasectomy. And to be honest, 4.5 months into life with three kids, and I’m right there with him. Although every child is a blessing, I think we’re OK with focusing on the three ~~expensive~~ ~~exhausting~~ amazing blessings we already have. He still expresses interest in the procedure, although he hasn’t acted on it yet. This video serves as an important reminder to follow up with his doctor if we do decide to go that route.

All of the vasectomy business aside, this video is pretty much the most epic pregnancy reveal I’ve ever seen. Congrats to the expecting couple on baby boy number four!
