Katherine Heigl is pregnant! The joyous news has been confirmed by the star herself, and we can also report that this time it’s going to be a boy being added to her and husband Josh Kelley’s family.
“The Kelley clan is thrilled to announce that we are expecting a third addition to our family,” the couple told People in a statement Thursday. The baby will be welcomed by big sisters Naleigh Moon, 7, and Adelaide Marie Hope, 4, who were both adopted.
The 37-year-old star went on to share that “Naleigh and Adalaide could not be more excited to welcome their new sibling into the fold and Josh and I are overflowing with joy and gratitude.”
“This is an incredibly exciting time for us filled with hope, anticipation, and hormones,” Katherine Heigl went on to say in her pregnancy announcement. “Well, only I’m filled with hormones, but everyone in the family gets to enjoy them. We couldn’t be more excited to be able to finally share this news with our fans and are looking forward to continuing to share the journey with you all.”
Baby boy Kelley is due to join the family in January, 2017.
You may recall Adelaide was adopted domestically in 2012, while her big sister was adopted from South Korea in 2009. Katherine Heigl also grew up with a sister, Margaret, who was also adopted from Korea.
In 2012 she explained why adoption is so important to their family, telling Parent & Child, “Josh and I started talking about it before we were even engaged. My sister Meg is Korean, and my parents adopted her three years before I was born. I wanted my own family to resemble the one I came from, so I always knew I wanted to adopt from Korea. We have talked about having biological children as well, but we decided to adopt first. I just wanted to be a mom. So however we do that, it’s fine with me.”
No word yet on what made Katherine and Josh decide now is the time to have a baby of their own, but we most certainly wish them the best!
Although I grew up in a family of four and now have one of my own, I shied away from having a family that looked just like the one I grew up in. Of course, it ended up just being luck our second child was a boy (and therefore not repeating the older brother, younger sister combination I came from), but I love having our own little uniqueness.

The news came a month after the 25-year-old revealed her split from her fiancé Dakota Meyer. Bristol, who is also mom to son Tripp, 7, welcomed daughter Sailor on December 23. 4. Jessa Duggar: The Dugger daughter's pregnancy proved to be a bright spot in a difficult year for the controversial family. Jessa and her husband Ben Seewald, who tied the knot in 2014, excitedly shared their happy pregnancy news in April. The 25-year-old, who is engaged to NBA player Iman Shumpert, welcomed daughter Iman Tayla Shumpert Jr. on December 16 in a dramatic birth. "Not knowing I was in labor until I felt her head...it took two ten count pushes with my fiancé playing Dr and she entered this world into his bare hands!” Teyana wrote. The weather anchor for ABC's Good Morning America and ABC World News Tonight, Ginger Zee and her husband Benjamin Aaron Colonomos announced in June that they were expecting their first child, and later found out the gender of the baby in an on-air segment.
