Last month, all the little girls at one North Carolina dance studio arrived for “princess day” wearing frilly dresses inspired by Elsa, Anna and Rapunzel.
Well, everyone except for 5-year-old Ainsley.
She came in dressed as a hot dog.
Photos of Ainsley’s hilariously unique choice of costume were originally posted on Twitter by Sarah Nativi and Grayson Lamontagne, who are both dance instructors at Holly Springs School of Dance.
“I wanted to share the pictures first of all because it was so innocent and cute, and also because I was so impressed with how confident a little girl could be with herself to just wear whatever she liked the best,” Lamontagne told BuzzFeed. “Her parents and I agree that it’s a great message for young girls and they are, as I can imagine, very proud of Ainsley.”
So what prompted this spunky little girl to don a hot dog costume in the first place? Apparently, it was her favorite. (Seems legit to me.) Lamontagne explained that while Ainsley does love princesses, she wanted to be different. Yet she still wore a princess dress underneath, saying she was a princess “on the inside.”
Unsurprisingly, it didn’t take long after the photos were posted for the hashtag #hotdogprincess to start trending on Twitter.
Ainsley is my hero. (Seriously, how perfect is that hot dog costume?) And I love that she still rocked a princess dress underneath, saying she was a princess on the inside! This girl is going places, man.
Plus, who knew wearing a costume of highly-processed meat between bread would result in these inspirational quotes?

I have a strong suspicion there will be many more dancing hot dogs for the dance studio’s next princess day.
