A newborn recently hit the birthday present jackpot after she was born mid-flight: She was gifted 1 million free airline miles!
Baby Haven’s mother went into labor unexpectedly on Sunday, Aug. 14 on a Cebu Pacific flight from Dubai to the Philippines. Although she was only 32 weeks along, this mom delivered a healthy baby girl with the help of two passengers who happened to be registered nurses. The plane ended up making an emergency landing in India to make sure the baby was in good health.
“We are happy that both mother and daughter are doing well, and would like to commend our flight and cabin crew for handling the situation with utmost professionalism and efficiency,” said Lance Gokongwei, CEB president and CEO, in a news release. “We also express our sincerest gratitude to the two volunteer nurses who helped ensure the baby’s safe delivery.”
The new mama returned to her seat while holding baby Haven for the remainder of the flight. A fellow passenger even managed to snap this photo of the newborn and her mama shortly after her unexpected birth.
I’m also going to take a wild guess that going into labor thousands of miles above land probably wasn’t in this mom’s birth plan. Still, 1 million free airline miles to share with her family is a decent consolation prize for baby Haven’s dramatic entrance, don’t you think?
