Pregnant? There’s a good chance you’re having a monkey

If you’re pregnant right now and past your first trimester, there’s a good chance you’re expecting a monkey.

Not an actual monkey, of course, but a baby that will be born in the year of the monkey, which runs from 2/8/2016 to 1/27/2017. Moms in the BabyCenter Community Birth Clubs are curious about what their little monkeys might be like. Here’s what Chinese-Astrology.co.uk has to say in part:

Monkeys are fun and loving persons who are always cheerful and energetic. They are very clever. Give a monkey a boring book to read and he’ll turn it into a Musical. Better yet, he’ll invite everyone to see it free! That’s how talented, creative and generous monkeys usually are.

If you go to a party, you’ll find Monkeys at the center of attention. Their charm and humour is the key to their popularity.

Additionally, monkeys are sociable, diplomatic and good problem-solvers. On the downside, however, monkeys have a reputation of being self-centered and opportunistic.

So if I’ve got all of my dates right, I’m a Taurus rooster. My husband is a Capricorn monkey. Our 11-year-old is a Virgo monkey and our 10-year-old is a Gemini dog.

That’s a lot to try and sort through — but I will say my husband does fit the monkey description pretty well. I’m as stubborn as the Taurus is known for, our eldest is clear-headed but always thinking like a Virgo, and our youngest, well, I suppose I can vouch that he does at least love dogs.

All that is to say I can see some connections, but with such broad descriptions I’ve never been one to put too much stock in astrology. Don’t each of us have so many facets to our personalities that some part is sure to ring true?

Still, it’s kind of fun to peek and take a look.
